UPDATES

Is it still close enough to the first to warrant throwing out a "Happy New Year" to everyone?

Who knows.

It's kinda subtle, but if you look around, you guys might have noticed that I've updated around here recently. I added in a brand spankin' new section in my navigation above, Features. See, I'm trying to add the Movie, Book, and Game reviews that Toms wanted, and I couldn't bare to shuffle it all into Prose and say it's all good. Even though it would have been alot easier that way, I assure you.

And if you'd look to your immediate left, you'll see the new Feature for the Month. It's a book review written by the lovely Sapphire Trickett on "Lilian's Story – Kate Grenville". If anyone is interested in having one of their articles or reviews posted here, just shoot me an email: rmcrobins[at]yahoo[dot]com.

Also, I know that I said last time that I was coming back in a "week or so" to update, when it really took me over a month, it's my aim, my goal to come back, restructure Resources, add some more writing articles, and update Writers' Circle. The site is getting sorta dusty, and I'm not happy about that. Hopefully I get to before spring cleaning, while I still have some free time left.

Until next time,

Hello, all.

The forum is up and working again, literally by grace of Toms. Sorry it took nearly two months to get it fixed. When I broke it, I broke the hell out of it and it took some serious time to figure out what I did, and then, how to fix it.

In the end, though, we have a bright and shiny new forum. And I'm just about finished putting in some final touches. I think I might have gone crazy with the avatars and censoring. I've never really had a chance before to play around with the settings from an admin's point of view. It's fun!

I've also set up specific divisions for certain creative writing classes at EMCC. Fortunately, I now have the control to boot spammers and allow permissions, so everything is gonna flow real nice from here.

Also, I'm hoping to come back within the next week or two and do a bit of updating. Things are starting to get a little out of date, so I'll be back to fix that. Look forward to more content heading our way. Who knows? We may even have a Feature by the time you come back.

Other than that, have a happy Turkey day!

Um....Yeah.

I just thought that I should let everyone know. The forum's down. Yeah...I sorta broke it.

I was trying to do something about all the spamming on it. But apparently, in this account there's this one button related to the forum that you're never, ever, under no circumstances are you allowed to push. Because then, the entire forum will implode upon itself.

Lesson learned. Rachel is not allowed to touch anything PHP related ever again.

Should a new forum pop up in here, it will be by the grace of Toms, and not myself.

So it took me, what, a year to get back to this and finish this phantom layout that's been haunting me since I first gazed on something similar?

When you say it that way, it sorta of sounds bad. Like I'm some lazy slacker who's got nothing better to do than putz around and not finish her promised layouts. I swear, I've been crazy-insane-busy this last year. And I mostly finished this thing like 3 months again, design-wise. I just had some kinks that I needed to take care of.

And now they are. The main intention of this layout is that its supposed to look like/be read like a book or manuscript. The story on the sides is from my own book "Shadows in the Dark" chapter three. The picture in the center you'll no doubt notice rotates with each refresh of the page. Hella cool, right? So its like, the central "story" of what you're reading is always changing. I picked pictures to represent fantasty, sci-fi, and other. I'll add more as time goes on. I like that it keeps the site from getting stale visually and is easier to change the main graphics.

Yeah. Also, the menu bar is on top. And yes, its supposed to look like that. I wanted them overlapping so that when you scroll your mouse over them, they reshuffle themselves, magically, just for you. Amazing that. Makes you feel special, doesn't it?

Hmmm-haw-hum. What else? Oh, I've been informed by Toms that this site's content is going to change a little. It's going to start featuring articles, because apparently he wants a "legit" e-zine. Pfft. Whatever. Anyway, theoretically, people are going to start writing book reviews and the like. That's why I have the side panel over there set up for it. That's why it looks so ugly. Blame Toms.
